Following the passing of René Girard, I took the opportunity to interview a few people about his thought. This is an interview with David Bentley Hart, an orthodox theologian and general classicist-at-large, regarding a few aspects of Girard's theory: 1) Hinduism and the uniqueness of Christianity (a la Nietzsche), 2) the dissolution of the two-faced "sacred" (where God is simultaneously infinite love and threat) and movement toward the "holy" (of pure, unimaginable unconditionality), 3) patristics, 4) shortcomings or cautions with Girard's theory.
