April 20, 2020 we hosted this online forum with Gavin Ortlund.

Faith and reason are often portrayed as conflicting ways of knowing the world. Or, in more positive construals of their relationship, they’re considered different but complementary ways of knowing. But perhaps there are other ways to reimagine their relationship, which don’t take for granted our modern assumptions.

In this online forum, we explored the relationship between faith and reason by looking at the thought of St. Anselm, an 11th-century monk, philosopher, and theologian (and Anselm House’s namesake). In addition to introducing Anselm to anyone unfamiliar with his work, we also asked how Anselm can help us better navigate our own efforts to connect faith and knowledge with all of life.
