Robert P. George, McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence and Founder and Director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University, spoke on "Natural Law, God, and Human Dignity" at the University of Toledo College of Law on February 18, 2010 Professor George has authored, among other books, Making Men Moral: Civil Liberties and Public Morality, In Defense of Natural Law, and The Clash of Orthodoxies, and George's articles and review essays have appeared in top journals. He is a frequent contributor to First Things, and has also written for the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, National Review, Touchstone, the Boston Review, City Journal, and the Times Literary Supplement. A graduate of Swarthmore College and Harvard Law School, George also earned a master's degree in theology from Harvard, a doctorate in philosophy of law from Oxford University and is the recipient of numerous civic and scholarly awards. The speech was presented as part of the Stranahan National Issues Forum, a joint program of the University of Toledo College of Law and its chapter of the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies.
