March 2, 2020 | In his message on World Day of Migrants and Refugees, Pope Francis remarked that “the signs of meanness we see around us heighten our fear of ‘the other,’ the unknown, the marginalized, the foreigner.” Dying to Live: Stories from Refugees on the Road to Freedom (2020) tells the stories of people who have been forced to flee their homes in their own words.
Danielle Vella, author of Dying to Live and director of reconciliation and social cohesion for Jesuit Refugee Service, will share stories of the forcibly displaced and answer questions about the refugee experience. She will be joined by Berkley Center Senior Fellow Rev. David Hollenbach, S.J., and Elizabeth Ferris of the Institute for the Study of International Migration.
This event is co-sponsored by Jesuit Refugee Service USA with Georgetown University's Institute for the Study of International Migration and its Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs.
