McCall: http://www.francisasburysociety.com/?openstorepage=product_det:234066 Many of us experience at various points a deep sense of loss, of abandonment. Sometimes, earnest Christians go through a period where we feel like God has forsaken us, a kind of "divine hiddenness." In those moments, it is important for us to realize that Christ is with us. His experience on the cross, his cry, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" links him to us. In taking up our cry of lostness, wonderment, and desperation, he is not forsaken by God. He is identifying himself with our forsakenness. Jesus comes all the way from heaven to be one with us while still being one with the Father. Through Christ, we join the union of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Though all of us experience feelings of forsakenness---some very vividly---Dr. McCall says it is important for us to realize that we are not forsaken if we are united with Christ.
