Most Greek teachers are content with their students doing an overly wooden word for word translation. After all, we need to know if the student knows it is a present ("while") or aorist ("after") Greek participle. We want the perfect tense translated with "has" or "have," even though we know the English present tense is the closest thing we have to the Greek perfect (in most cases). But these gives the false impression that word for word is more accurate, and they leave school and spread this misconception in their churches.
