Though entrusted with authority to rule under God’s lordship, Adam did not exercise faithful leadership when the serpent entered the garden. Instead of guarding what God had entrusted to him, he remained passive and ultimately disobeyed.

Schreiner highlights that humanity’s calling has always been to rule under God’s authority — in humble trust and submission to His Word.
