Two hundred invited leaders from the tech industry, faith communities, academia, media, and government gathered on the University of Notre Dame's campus in September for the Notre Dame Summit for AI, Faith, and Human Flourishing. A response to the recent explosive growth in artificial intelligence, the summit was created to begin to develop a collective response to the opportunities and challenges presented by these new technologies, ensuring that Christians have a “voice at the table” during this time of rapid social transformation.
At the summit, Director of the Institute for Ethics and the Common Good and Notre Dame's Ethics Initiative Meghan Sullivan introduced DELTA, a faith-informed approach to conversations about AI that is rooted in the Christian values of dignity, embodiment, love, transcendence, and agency. A practical resource for sectors experiencing disruption from AI, including workplaces, schools, churches, and homes, DELTA was developed out of hundreds of focus groups and conversations that Sullivan and her team have led over the past year.
