Israeli archaeologists don't use the Gospel of Thomas.
They don't use the Gnostic Gospels or any of the trendy alternatives some scholars are obsessed with.
They use Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Every single time.
Not because of theology. Not because they're Christians. Most of them aren't even religious.
They use the four Gospels because when they need to know where to dig, what they're looking at, and what actually happened in the first century, the Gospels are accurate.
Dr. Craig Evans has been on 30+ digs across Israel and Cyprus. He's worked with Israeli archaeologists who treat the Gospels as their most reliable historical sources. Because they reflect the way things actually were.
If you dig a massive hole, move 50 tons of earth, and find nothing, you're done. You'll never get another permit.
So archaeologists use their best sources. And the Gospels are it.
That should tell us something.
