The speaker reflects on Psalm 46 and other Scriptures to remind us that this world is not our lasting home. Even the strongest structures—mountains, homes, wealth, or relationships—are temporary and vulnerable. The sea, often symbolic in Scripture of chaos and danger, represents the forces that threaten human life.

At creation, God separated the waters from the land to provide a safe place for humanity. But history, like the flood in Noah's day, shows that God can also undo that safety. In the new creation (Revelation 21), the "sea"—as a symbol of chaos and danger—will be gone, meaning perfect safety and stability will finally come.

Despite the instability of this world, we do not fear. God Himself is our refuge and strength. The sea may threaten us, but God commands and controls the sea. He "tramples the waves," as described in Job, and Jesus demonstrates this in Matthew 14 when He walks on the stormy sea, revealing His divine authority.

Peter briefly walks on the water by trusting Jesus, but when he looks at the storm, he begins to sink. Jesus rescues him, showing that even amid chaos, those who trust in Christ are safe.

The message is clear: We will face instability and danger in this life, but we need not fear because God, the Creator, and Jesus, the wave-trampler, are our refuge.
