Jesus Kept the Law—even After Death? Augustine Explained | Dr Paula Fredriksen

In this lecture, Paula Fredriksen, William Goodwin Aurelio Chair Emerita of the Appreciation of Scripture at Boston University, discusses themes from her book Augustine and the Jews: A Christian Defense of Jews and Judaism.

Focusing on Jesus and the Apostles as Law-Keepers, Fredriksen explains how Augustine of Hippo argued that Jesus meticulously observed the Jewish Law—even after death—by waiting until after the Sabbath for the resurrection of his body. Augustine further maintained that the Apostles, including Paul, continued to observe Jewish law both before and after the resurrection.
