Offering an account of the life humans are created to lead is central to the task of theological anthropology and ethics. This talk will scrutinize the way in which our conception of life and the limits and capabilities inherent in it has been transfigured by our newfound technological powers, and consider the form of ascesis that might be necessary in order to ensure that we learn to see human life within the limits God has placed upon it as a benefit and a blessing, rather than a burden.
