Stanley Hauerwas is Gilbert T. Rowe Professor Emeritus of Divinity and Law at Duke Divinity School. He has a B.A. from Southwestern University, a B.D., M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. from Yale University and a D.D. from University of Edinburgh. Time magazine named him ""America's Best Theologian” in 2001, to which he responded: ""'Best' is not a theological category."" He’s the author of dozens of books including Resident Aliens, which forms the basis of our conversation.
