I conducted a deep, evidence-based survey into how the earliest Jewish contemporaries of Jesus—like Philo and Josephus—understood divine inspiration for prophets.
Their descriptions, bordering on total dictation, provide essential context for interpreting 2 Peter 1:20-21. This verse, often applied broadly to all Scripture, strictly addresses prophetic utterance. By employing a "bottom-up" approach, we uncover that the Bible's core claim is that its content derives from God and is therefore absolutely authoritative, regardless of the precise mechanism.
This fundamental authority, validated by the risen Jesus, is the solid ground for our faith, which then rightly informs our doctrine of inerrancy.
