🗣 In the penultimate talk from our special 2022 conference, ‘Suicide Prevention and Assisted Suicide: Legal, Clinical and Ethical Perspectives’, our Director, Professor David Albert Jones (Professor in Bioethics, St Mary’s Twickenham; Fellow, Blackfriars Oxford) sets out the arguments over the relationship between physician-assisted suicide and suicide prevention – as to whether there is a positive association or a negative one – before the immediately following talk by Professor David Paton addresses the available evidence.
🎗 The Conference was held on Saturday 10 September 2022 (World Suicide Prevention Day) at Blackfriars in Oxford, and covered the right to be prevented from committing suicide, the challenge of suicide prevention among people eligible for ‘Medical Aid in Dying’ (MAiD) and the impact of legalising assisted suicide on suicide rates.
