On February 18, 2021 we hosted the 25th annual Paul Holmer Memorial Lecture.
EVENT DESCRIPTION
Does good literature make us better people? If so, how do we explain the many instances of well-read and well-educated people who lacked moral integrity? What do we need to bring to the literary encounter for it to become an experience of moral growth? Under the right conditions, can fictional characters play a role in shaping our own moral and spiritual character? This online forum discussed the relationship between literature and the formation of Christian virtues.
PANELISTS
This event featured a panel discussion between Jennifer Frey (University of South Carolina), Christian Miller (Wake Forest University), and Jennifer Herdt (Yale Divinity School), moderated by Andrew Hansen (Anselm House).
