A monk in the 13th century changed a woman's name in your Bible. He turned "Junia" into "Junias" to make it masculine.
That name? Junias? It's completely made up. It doesn't exist anywhere in the ancient world.
Meanwhile there are over 250 inscriptions in Rome alone with the female name Junia. The early church fathers recognized her as a woman. The most reliable texts have it as a woman.
And Dr. Cohick makes the point that absolutely nails it: "If it was Bob and Ray among the apostles, everybody would be like, yeah, they're part of the group of the apostles. It's just that it's a woman's name, so it gives pause."
