You've been lied to about colonialism. In today's world, it's orthodox belief that 'colonialism was bad', and we should look back on The British Empire with contempt and shame, and perhaps even pay reparations to various ethnicities and nations. It's true that some bad stuff happened under the British Empire even some evil stuff. Is that the whole story though? For the activists pushing these beliefs, yes case closed. Nothing more to discuss (except how we can uproot the Western world which finds its origins in the British Empire). But... what about the introduction of science and medical technologies that extended everyone's lifespans? What about the building of public infrastructure and the promotion of agriculture? Freedom of speech and civil liberties? What about the fight to abolish slavery worldwide, and the young men who gave their lives to prevent the Nazis from taking over the world? Was that all evil too? It seems as though there actually is more to discuss namely, the facts. So I tracked down Professor Nigel Biggar, who has spent years investigating the history of the British Empire (and who decolonizing activists have been trying to cancel for years), to discuss, not the half-truth, but the whole truth about colonialism.
