David Bentley Hart argues here not only that computers cannot generate thinking or conciousness but also that they cannot even do what we call computing because anything we can claim to resemble "intelligence" in them is in the end reducible to our own minds. It's actually us, as intrinsically intentional beings, that do the computing by attribuing meaning to the processes those machines undergo.
