The keynote speaker of the third annual Religion Media Festival 'Exploring Belief' was Dr Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury. Interviewed by Roger Bolton, he gave his views on a wide range of issues including institutional racism in the Church of England, church opposition to closing buildings in the lockdown, cancel culture and whether to explain or remove statues linked to slavery. The festival was held three days after the death of the Duke of Edinburgh, and Dr Williams recalled the "terrifying experience" of delivering a sermon in front of him: "I was told very, very firmly, that going over eight minutes would probably land me in the Tower of London."
