This author sees marriage as a contract rather than a covenant. He also concludes that the 1 Cor. 7 passage on "not bound" could only mean, by process of elimination, that someone who was left against their will was free to remarry. Interesting perspective that is different from the Marriage Permanence crowd. Great book for understanding the how the concept of divorce changed over the centuries.
