This sermon encourages all believers to persevere through life’s “middle miles” of hardship by grounding their response in trust, resurrection hope, and an eternal perspective. Drawing from Paul’s own suffering, it teaches that faith leads to bold proclamation even in difficulty, because believers trust in God’s truth and promises. Central to endurance is the hope of the resurrection, that just as God raised Jesus, He will also raise His people, giving present suffering greater meaning and purpose. Though outwardly people may be “wasting away,” inwardly they are continually renewed, and their present afflictions, described as temporary and light, are producing an immeasurable, eternal glory.
Therefore, Christians are called not to focus on visible, temporary troubles but on unseen, eternal realities, finding strength to endure by fixing their eyes on God’s promises and the ultimate hope that “everything is going to be OK” in Him.
