Rev Prof Stephen Bevans, S.V.D, presents a public lecture, "Dreaming of a 'Missionary option': Pope Francis's vision of a Missionary Church" at the 2016 Life in Abundance conference hosted by Trinity College, Melbourne.

Based on the Papal Document Evangelii Gaudium (The Joy of the Gospel), Rev Prof Bevans expounds 6 marks of the church if Pope Francis's vision of a missionary church is realised:

1. The church would become a community of 'missionary disciples’. (10:57)
2. The church would become a manifestation of God’s mercy and tenderness. (16:51)
3. The church would become a 'poor church and for the poor'. (22:32)
4. The church would become ‘declaricalised’ and embrace the centrality of Baptism. (27:47)
