Biblical Scholar and Author Esau McCaulley, Ph.D., spoke on "What is African American Biblical Interpretation and Why it Matters" for the 20th Anniversary of Howard College of Arts and Sciences J. Roderick Davis Lecture Series at Samford University on October 6, 2022. McCaulley is an associate professor of New Testament at Wheaton College and a theologian in residence at Progressive Baptist Church, a historically Black congregation in Chicago. His book, Reading While Black: African American Biblical Interpretation as an Exercise in Hope (2020), won numerous awards including Christianity Today's Book of the Year.
