The Vctor Jara Liberation Theology Library presents Professor Anthony Reddie's talk 'Not Returning to Normal' from the 2020 Liberation Theology Gathering UK. In light of the global coronavirus pandemic and the Black Lives Matter protests, the theme of the 2020 gathering was 'I Can't Breathe': Black Lives Matter and Liberation Theology. Here Professor Anthony Reddie reflects on the intersection between systemic racism, as brought into focus by the murder of George Floyd and the ensuing Black Lives Matter protests, and the coronavirus pandemic, which has disproportionately affected black and minority ethnic people. Professor Anthony Reddie is director of the Oxford Centre for Religion and Culture, Regent's Park College, Oxford. He is also extraordinary Professor of Theological Ethics at the University of South Africa. Professor Reddie has authored many books including 'Theologizing Brexit: A Liberationist and Postcolonial Critique', 'Is God Colour-Blind? Insights from Black Theology for Christian Faith and Ministry', and 'Black Theology'. His personal website is anthonyreddie.com.
