Professor Neil Messer - Inaugural Lecture Current scientific discoveries and new technologies are radically changing the world we live in, and perhaps even human nature itself. Should we set moral limits on our technological manipulation of ourselves and our world? If so, what limits, and how are we to discern where to set them? Where can contemporary societies find the moral resources to evaluate new scientific and technological possibilities wisely? Can religious traditions whose sacred texts are thousands of years old possibly bring anything to this search for present-day wisdom?
