In this session, Westminster Seminary California Robert B. Strimple Professor of Systematic Theology and Christian Ethics David VanDrunen presents a theologically mature and pastorally sensitive expression of the Reformed doctrine of assurance. While teaching that assurance belongs to the essence of faith and is meant for all Christians, it also recognizes that Christians often struggle with doubts, temptations, and sins, even while God always protects them from “utter despair.”
