On April 5, 2016, Dr. Robert P. George delivered this lecture at the Law Students for Life inaugural event at Harvard Law School. He argued that human embryos are human beings (scientifically speaking) and human persons (philosophically speaking), and thus that they should be protected. Dr. George's lecture begins at the 5:20 mark. Law Students for Life is an unofficial student organization at Harvard Law School. It exists to advocate pro-life perspectives regarding moral and legal questions. He is a graduate of Swarthmore College, Harvard Law School, Harvard Divinity School, and Oxford University. He is currently the chairman of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, and be has served on the President's Council on Bioethics and the United States Commission on Civil Rights. His 2008 book "Embryo: A Defense of Human Life" (co-authored with Christopher Tollefsen) presents a comprehensive argument for protecting the unborn.
