Rev. Dr Munther Isaac addressed an online zoom event hosted by the Corrymeela Community and the Irish School of Ecumenics. The title of his talk was Christ In The Rubble: Learning from a Palestinian Public Theology. The talk was preceded by a short prayer from Rev Paul Lutton of Newtownbreda Presbyterian Church and a short reflection by Dr Jude Lal Fernando of the Irish School of Ecumenics. Jonny Clark was the moderator of the evening and asked Munther a few questions at the end of his talk. At the very end Dr Freya Dasgupta read an excerpt of a poem which in English would be called Christ After The Crucifixion. It is written by an Iraqi poet, Badr Shakir al-Sayyab. It highlights Christ's affiliation with the oppressed and the marginalised, and emphasises the very Christian idea that the despair of suffering and death ultimately holds within it the possibility of resurrection and rebirth.
