In his lecture at Oregon State University on October 30th, Professor Peter Leithart surveyed Eusebius's account of Constantine's Christian convictions and examined later legends of Constantine to focus on the changing notions of how successive emperors wished to portray their faith in an imperial context. Dr. Leithart is the College's senior theology scholar. A prolific author with interests ranging from biblical typology to Jane Austen, Dr. Leithart received his Ph.D. in Systematic Theology at the University of Cambridge, England. He also holds an A.B. in English and History from Hillsdale College, and a Master of Arts in Religion and a Master of Theology from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. He was honored with an appointment as an ARIHE Lecturer by the Association of Reformed Institutions of Higher Education (arihe.org) for the 2010-2012 academic years. He has authored several highly acclaimed books, including Defending Constantine, Deep Exegesis, Athanasius, Against Christianity, A Son to Me, A House for My Name, Blessed are the Hungry, Wise Words, Brightest Heaven of Invention, Heroes of the City of Man, and many more.
