The Bible begins and ends with trees. Humans are called to serve and protect the earth. The Bible ends with the new Jerusalem coming down to earth. In the Apostle's Creed, we begin with a confession of God, the Creator of heaven and earth. In the Lord's Prayer, we pray that God's will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the Doxology, we sing that all creatures here below praise God. Earthkeeping is woven into the fabric of our faith. Steve teaches at Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He and his wife, Celaine, have three grown daughters. He spends as much time outside as possible, including taking students whitewater rafting, and backpacking in the Adirondacks as part of a course, "Ecological Theology and Ethics." Dr. Bouma-Prediger is the author of five books, including For the Beauty of the Earth: A Christian View of Creation Care.
