John Swinton reframes what it means to be healthy. Sharing with us how we could stand on a podium with gold medals and still be unwell, or walk through deep mental or physical suffering and yet know true health. John shares how Scripture, health isn’t the absence of illness, it’s shalom: right relationship with God, restored dignity, belonging. The woman who touched Jesus' hem in the Bible wasn’t only cured; she was called daughter. Cure may or may not come. But healing begins when we encounter Jesus and are brought back into love and community.
John Swinton is a Scottish theologian and Chair in Divinity and Religious Studies at the University of Aberdeen, where he founded the Centre for Spirituality, Health and Disability. An ordained Church of Scotland minister and Master of Christ’s College, he is a leading figure in disability theology.
