Dr. Soong-Chan Rah grew up in the inner-city of Baltimore, Maryland, with three siblings and a single mother. He reflects on the sacrifices his immigrant mother made, working 120 hours a week to provide for their family ever since their father left. During the day, she would work a 12-hour shift at a carryout restaurant and at night she would work 8 hours as a nurse’s aide, resting only to pray and prepare food for her four children. In this Legacy Project, Rev. Dr. Rah speaks about the lessons of family, faith, and forgiveness he learned from his mother growing up despite their difficult circumstances.
