God, by his Holy Spirit, inspired these writings, which is the meaning of the term scripture. In this way, it is a trustworthy source of God's revelation and a guide for salvation. On the other hand, the Spirit used humans with distinct personalities, cultures, and concerns. This means that the Bible may sometimes seem strange or far-removed from our world. Nonetheless, the central concerns of Scripture remain consonant with those posed throughout the ages: the nature of God; the origin and meaning of life; the answer to our human predicament; the hope for our future, etc. Watch this video interview with Dr. Bill Arnold and Dr. Ben Witherington as they help illuminate what it means that both God and humans authored the Bible.
