Cultivating the art and craft of preaching is a lifelong endeavor that takes time, effort and patience. We all benefit from finding opportunities to nurture our gifts, skill and passions in preaching. There are many different elements to the practice of preaching. Many preaching seminars and conferences focus on the skills of shaping and delivering sermons. At Wycliffe's Preaching Day we have made it our primary commitment to continue to learn how to engage more deeply with the biblical text. With a focus on a theological reading of the whole of scripture we seek to equip pastors and priests as they go to the text week after week on behalf of a particular church or community. This year Dr Joseph Mangina and the Rev. Dr. Annette Brownlee will be looking at the gospel of the beloved disciple, the book of John. Dr Mangina is working on a study of ecclesiology focused on John's gospel while Dr Brownlee's recently released book, Preaching Jesus Christ Today, provides a constructive approach for the busy preacher who seeks to be faithful to the text.
