Proof Texting Solution to Biblical Studies With Tim Mackie

Why do so many Christians cherry-pick words and texts from the Bible, thinking that they are doing good Bible study?

I often use the phrase 'proof-texting' to describe a common mishap in Biblical studies, but recently, many critics of my approach have accused me of using it to disagree with anyone whose biblical interpretations differ from mine.

Is that really what I'm doing?

There is a better way to study the word of God than cherry-picking or proof-texting, and claiming that scripture allows this because it says "line upon line."

But this requires a change of heart, a change of perspective, and being aware of the presuppositions we bring to the text!

Oh, and moving from a dictionary approach to an encyclopedia approach.
