Nigel Biggar, aka Regius Professor Emeritus of Moral & Pastoral Theology, new member of the House of Lords - Lord Biggar of Castle Down CBE, accepted the invitation to visit Peckham to talk with me and a small, invited audience about his work on British history and in particular as it relates to Empire, the slave trade, and Britain's ethical record. AVAILABLE NOW. https://youtu.be/Qu8W_U5n3-Y Lord Biggar finds the politicisation of universities in recent years unhealthy. His over-arching aspiration was to determine the truth of things and he was prepared to spend his life doing that. Ergo, the simple equation 'Empire = Evil" he knew was not historically tenable and until 2017 he felt free to speak about his ideas. The podcast is also interesting for those not present in the invited audience I had personally asked a group of bright and aspiring local young Black students to attend and participate in the open discussion to which I would and did give a whole hour. Lord Biggar had responded favourably to this proposition. On the day none came. The organisation, through whom I met them and with whom I had previous good links, was not at all keen to expose their students 'to that man'. Try out this podcast and judge for yourself what kind of man this is. Running time: 90 minutes The Rt Hon.
