In this excerpt, Thomas Schreiner reflects on the unique role pastors play in shaping biblical theology and forming the spiritual life of the Church. While academic institutions serve an important purpose, Schreiner highlights how the local church — and faithful pastoral ministry — often carries the deepest and most lasting influence on believers. Diamonds From Scripture began as a personal project — a way for us, as theology students, to preserve and organize theological insights that have shaped our own studies and ministry preparation. Over time, we realized this growing archive could serve others as well. Our hope is that this “diamond” strengthens pastors, students, and believers who desire serious, thoughtful engagement with Scripture and the life of the Church.
