Elving Anderson Lecture in Science and Religion on April 10, 2014. We hear reports today that genes determine everything from religiosity to political affiliation. At the same time, recent developments in fields such as epigenetics suggest that our genetic makeup is more complicated than these reports imply. In this lecture, Dr. Alexander examines the challenges presented by contemporary genetics for religious visions of human freedom and moral responsibility.
