You've been lied to about colonialism. In today's world, it's orthodox belief that 'colonialism was bad', and we should look back on The British Empire with contempt and shame. However, Empire is a universal phenomenon. Empires go back in history as far back as we can trace, in every part of the world, no matter what race we are talking about. Empires can do good and bad, and the Decolonisation Narrative tries to say that the British Empire was ALL bad. In this video, Professor Nigel Biggar explains that no, actually the British Empire exported a moral belief system to its colonies that we all celebrate today, which is why former colonies such as New Zealand, Canada, the US, and Australia are among the most prosperous and least racist countries on Earth. We should celebrate that. There are some bad things about history, but the British Empire was a force for good as time went on.
