What happens when the Holy Spirit actually shows up? In this session on the second chapter of Acts, we look at the moment a small group of followers became a global movement. It wasn't just a one-time historical event; it was the birth of the church as a new community where God's presence moved from a physical building into his people.
We explore the symbols of wind and fire, as God's way of showing he was establishing a "new Sinai". Just as God appeared in fire to Moses and the Israelites, he now rests on every single believer, turning them into "mobile temples" carrying his presence everywhere they go.
In this video, we cover:
• The Big Gathering: Why it was so important for the Spirit to arrive in Jerusalem during a festival when people from every corner of the earth were present.
• Reversing Babel: How the gift of tongues allowed everyone to hear the message in their own mother tongue, bringing a beautiful unity to a diverse crowd.
• Peter’s Bold Message: How Peter stood up and used ancient prophecies from Joel and the Psalms to prove that Jesus is the King and Lord who was always promised.
• A New Kind of Community: The four simple habits the first believers lived by teaching, fellowship, breaking bread, and prayer—and their radical generosity toward those in need.
This story reminds us that we live in the same era as Peter and Paul, empowered by the same Spirit to share the gospel today.
