John Calvin said we pray, as it were, through the mouth of Jesus. That’s how the Father hears us. The Father’s always longed to hear the prayers of his dear Son, and we pray in him, in his name.
The Son gives us his name to pray in so that we pray as him. So that relationship between the Father and the Son is one we’ve been brought into to enjoy.
