In this Episode, Chris Tilling talks to Barth Church Dogmatics expert, Marty Folsom, and Dr Matthias Mangold (of Logos) about thew new electronic edition of Barth's Kirchliche Dogmatik (that’s “Church Dogmatics” in the original German). It’s an excellent resource that is sure to be of interest to anyone interested in Barth scholarship, theological German, and more besides.
Matthias Mangold was born in Germany, studied theology in Basel (Switzerland) and Louvain (Belgium). He completed his PhD in the field of early modern theology in 2021 (“Towards a Reformed Enlightenment”) and started working for the German Logos branch in 2022. In this capacity, he was involved in the publication of the new edition of Barth’s Kirchliche Dogmatik.
Marty Folsom is professor of theology and biblical studies and has been for 30 years in NZ and Seattle. He has also been a therapist for 24 years as well as author of the Face to Face trilogy on relational theology, which emphasizes “personal relationship”.
