In a recent interview I did with Jason Staples, who is one of the Ten speakers at the upcoming Bart Ehrman conference on Paul--New Insights into the New Testament , he tells a delightful story about how he first proposed his dissertation topic to Prof. Ehrman out of the blue. The rest of the story continues in my interview with Jason here--quite an amazing outcome when Jason headed to Duke to study Paul with some of the major Paul scholars-and what they though of his idea:
