Professor Jrgen Moltmann, Professor Emeritus of Systematic Theology at the University of Tbingen and one of the most widely-read theologians of the twentieth century, gives the annual Charles Gore Lecture on 'A Theology of Hope for the 21st Century'. Taking for inspiration the Friederich Hlderlin quote, 'But where there is danger, salvation also grows', Professor Moltmann will discuss a culture of life in the dangers of this time. Charles Gore (1853-1932) was a Canon of Westminster between 1894 and 1902. As a memorial to him, an endowment fund for a series of annual lectures was established and since 1935 a lecture has been held at the Abbey almost every year.
