The gospel reading for Trinity 2 in Year B is Mark 3.20–35 (the end of the chapter).
It is a fascinating episode, since in characteristic style, Mark 'intercalates' or sandwiches one story inside another—the opposite from the Jewish authorities sits within the story of his family trying to stop his ministry.
We learn about the authority and ministry of Jesus not just from each story, but from the connections between the two. Come and join Ian and James as they explore the issues and implications. Revd James Blandford-Baker is vicar of Histon and Impington, two villages just north of Cambridge. Revd Dr Ian Paul is Associate Minister of St Nic's, Nottingham, and writes the widely-read blog www.psephizo.com.
Full written commentary behind the discussion can be found on the blog each week.
