Hosted on Zoom on 16th Sept 2021, this was Part 2 of the Diocese of London's 3 part "Housing Summit", responding to The Archbishop of Canterbury's Commission Report "Coming Home".
A TED-talk style evening, helping parishes explore how we can campaign and organise, using our voice and power as churches to seek a better vision of housing in society.
Introduced by Right Revd Graham Tomlin, Bishop of Kensington & vice chair of the Commission on Housing. with voices from parishes across London.
Guest Speakers joined us:
Pete Brierley, Assistant Director, Citizens UK, set the scene by exploring stories and themes of the struggle for decent housing in London.

Rev Graham Hunter, St Johns Hoxton - in conversation Lorraine Kinnear, church member and long standing resident - on where to start and the importance of listening to local community need

Jackie Ashmenall, Christ the Saviour Ealing and West London Citizens on how to engage local powers, telling the story of their campaigh working with local councils to create Community Land Trusts (CLT)

Rev Clare Dowding, St Pauls Marylebone, telling the story of how their church has encouraged an estate presence, Neighbourhood plans as a way of giving voice to local residents, and building long term relationships with their local authority

Steve Day, HTB & national End Our Cladding Scandal campaigner on leveraging power nationally to change things. He tells the story of how God has time and again equipped & empowered him for what he calls his "accidental campaigning". As one of the leaseholders caught up in the post Grenfell Cladding scandal, he tells the story of seeking justice and safe housing for millions of people
