C. S. Lewis is one of the most influential Christian thinkers and writers of the twentieth century, the author of The Chronicles of Narnia, Mere Christianity, and The Abolition of Man. But what is the deep logic of his imagination? Was he an orthodox Christian? And is there a hidden design behind the seemingly strange features of Narnia? Why did he regard the moral argument as one of the most important tools in his apologetic arsenal?
In this wide-ranging conversation, we speak with Dr. Michael Ward — a theologian, literary critic, lecturer at the University of Oxford, and one of the world’s leading scholars of C. S. Lewis, the author of Planet Narnia and After Humanity.
This conversation will be of particular interest to those who:
• read C. S. Lewis thoughtfully and in depth;
• are interested in Christian apologetics, philosophy, and imagination;
• want to see Narnia not as a “collection of fairy tales,” but as a coherent and carefully constructed imaginative world.
