I continue my discussion of Chapter 14 of Jesus and the Eyewitnesses, by Richard Bauckham. Richard Bauckham uses the declaration of testimony of the Beloved Disciple from the last chapter of the Gospel of John as his primary evidence that the Gospel is based on eyewitness testimony. The scholarly consensus, however, is that the final chapter of John was written by a different author and added to the Gospel by a later editor. Bauckham must have this chapter as evidence, so he must defend its authority at all costs!! His first strategy is to ignore any reasons scholars may think John 21 is a later edition so he does not have to address them. I do the job for him. This is the most heavily edited recording I have ever uploaded to YouTube. It was originally almost 2 hours long, which is ridiculous. I cut out a very lengthy section where I discussed the distinction Richard Bauckham made between the 'signs' found in the Gospel of John, and routine miracles. I will upload that discussion as a separate video.
